In the past year, RFDS Kalgoorlie crews went to the aid of 1714 patients across the Esperance-Goldfields region, including 173 children and 25 infants in need of urgent care. The vital services provided by the RFDS are a lifeline for remote communities and workers without access to day-to-day care.
At Topdrill, we’re passionate about our region and are driven to provide support to the community in any way we can. Partnering with RFDS as a charity partner is one way that we continue to provide that support.
On the eve of Diggers and dealers, Topdrill hosted the Resources Industry Charity Sundowner for the 3rd year. The event saw more than 250 members of the resources industry and community come together to enjoy live music, gourmet canapes, and demonstrations. The main event of course being the charity auction giving guests the opportunity to bid on a range of items from luxury holidays and jewellery, through to camping gear and sporting memorabilia.
Our aim was to help raise $100,000 to go towards new equipment for the Goldfields-based PC-12 aircraft affectionately known locally as Isla, which has helped about 600 patients this year.
RFDS WA chief executive Rebecca Tomkinson said, “It’s so wonderful to have the support of the Kalgoorlie community who are very generous with us all year round, but in particular the resources community ahead of Diggers & Dealers,”.
Through the charity auction and donations, the Sundowner was able to raise over $170,000, an outstanding result that far exceeding our expectations. Our Topdrill managing director and founder Tim Topham said the generosity displayed by the resources sector in support of the RFDS highlights how integral the service is to regional and remote communities.
“When we support the RFDS, we are supporting the safety and wellbeing of our people, their families, and our communities,” he said.
Topdrill sincerely thanks the resources industry, our clients and friends who attended the event and pledged in support of RFDS, particularly Unicorn Risk Solutions who donated $20,000.
Ms Tomkinson said the RFDS was enormously grateful and humbled for the support of Topdrill, which has helped raise more than $395,000 for the service in the past three years.
We at Topdrill are incredibly proud to be a part of the RFDS family and already look forward to next year’s event.
